Why do people write new kids books?
If kids are new to this world, then why do people always come out with new Kids Books. If Dr. Seuse has been working since the 50's, why try to fix something that isn't broken. Also, why new kids shows?
People will always buy the newest and latest version of anything. Its partially human nature and partially that books, children's books in particular have gotten much better over the years with the introduction of new computer programs like Photoshop and Illustrator which avail illustrators with a whole new world in regards to what they can accomplish artistically. The printing methods have also gotten better making books more colorful and visually appealing. There is no limit to creativity and what I see is a trend towards books now that are helping children to understand difficult life events like the death of a pet, or a loved one. Very good books that help teach morals, family values and great educational books which help children develop their vocabulary all made even better by the glossy, beautifully vibrant illustrations in the modern, cute style. I love taking my children to Barnes and Noble to pick out a new book. Its the highlight of their week! They have a huge book collection spanning traditional time tested favorites like Dr. Seuss, Amelia Bedelia and the Golden Books that my Mom read to me as a little girl and then all the newer ones like the Jan Brett stories, If you Give a Mouse a Cookie, and updated versions of the Three LIttle Pigs, Goldilocks, Cinderella and others. I believe Jan Brett's books have some of the richest watercolor illustrations I've ever seen. She is just briliant! Its all about the wonder of discovering new worlds in the books and the happiness it brings the little ones.
Well I just bought a lift the flap one called "Wheres the Poop?"
Hopefully, we'll never have to play this at home, in the process of potty training, and thought it would be fun. I doubt even 20 years ago, this book would be socially acceptable.

Why are you so opposed to other people being creative?

Think about it this way. Why make new movies, or write new books for adults? Kids have very short attention spans, and technically are kids until they are 8 or 9. So would you want to read the same stories over and over again for 8 years? People are always creating new things, new ideas, that's what makes the Human Race special. Things have changed radically since Dr. Seuss, and there are so many more subjects to write about. I agree that his books are some of the best, but so are the Dinosaur books by Jane Yolen, Knuffle Bunny by Mo Willems and the Sandra Boynton books and music stuff is awesome. My son loves to read the "classics" as they were, but he loves to read the newer stories too.

to change with the time? Like everything else. Kids books from 1950 and kids books today teach different things or teach them in a more modern way. Plus its always good to have more books. A lot of kids books today interact with the kids more.. with objects to touch and smell in the books. Its like asking "why make a new model of car each year".. IT'S AN UPGRADE!:)

well think of it this way…..Baney for the rest of a childs young life…uh. NO. The other thing is that people tend to write kids books becasue they don't have the language to make books for adults, so they write childrens books and make easy money.
My two teen boys grew up with Dr. Seuss, and really hated Barney, my son at the age of 2 used to hit the television set with his open hand until I changed the channel. lol.
Good luck with your choices.

Because all things change with time. First we have a lot different take on how to parent now than 50 years ago. And the way some subjects are viewed today is very different (take single parents, children with disabilities, children with 2 mom's or 2 dad's, how to deal with death, how to potty train children, etc). Plus, why not encourage reading even with young children? And frankly I am picky about what my son views and reads-so a tv show that say has guns or hitting and pushing like Tom and Jerry or Bugs is a HUGE no in my house. But our favorite show is actually based on a classic-Little Bear! Sometimes the old things are the best:)

Because after the first 50 readings of a Dr. Seuss book kids are ready to try something else? I read to my young kids for about an hour a day. I read plenty of "oldies but goodies" and allow for a lot of repetition, but it's nice to get new ones, as well! Some of my favorite kids' books are pretty recently written. (Seen "Duck and Goose?")
Couldn't you say the same for adults' books, as well? Tolstoy and Shakespeare and Dickens, etc. don't mean that there's nothing new under the sun worth reading.

Why do people ask questions on Yahoo? Can't they just look things up in the World Book encyclopedia that they have at home?
Because times change, and people have new ideas all the time.

Why new adult books then? It's not like you've read every book in the world. Sorry, this is a silly question.
And despite the glut of garbage on television, no matter the age level, occasionally something new and good comes along.
The reason people create new books and TV shows is because they get paid to do it. It's called capitalism…and despite the ubiquitous complaining about it, the world has yet to find an economic system that works better.

Because there's always something new and exciting to convey to children! I'm a children's lit specialist, and I'm enthralled over the new kids books coming out every year. Say your child likes puppies.. well, there's more than "The Poky Little Puppy" available now. It's fabulous and the more book there are to read, the more kids read total, and then they grow into smarter and better little persons.
